1. The One-Minute TIP

The good news is that a GREAT LIFE is available to each and
every one of us. Living well and making a difference do not
require money, fame or power. Living well is about taking
time to live your own life on your own terms. It's about
caring and sharing, about loving and dancing, and sharing a
meal with a friend, or with a stranger. Life is short -
give it your very best, every day!

2. Welcome Notes

I was surprised this week when 6 different people asked
about my "B-HAG" - my Big Hairy Audacious Goal - of
reaching 100,000 people this year. It's wonderful (and
scary!) to know how carefully many of you read TIPS, and
how much you remember what I write! Thank you!

Our subscriber rate is up dramatically, but not yet on
track to reach the goal. We are adding about 200 new
subscribers each week, and I would love your help! If you
know someone (family, friends, co-workers, classmates) who
would enjoy TIPS, encourage them to subscribe! If each of
you recommend TIPS to a half-dozen people, we could double
our list in a week!

Anyone can subscribe and get 5 BONUS gifts just for signing
up! They can either (1) visit the website and use the form (above)
or (2) send an email addressed to:

I also want to remind you that I will again teach my Road
to Riches financial success class in April. This has been a
wonderful program, and I encourage you to join us. Earning
more, spending less, and investing wisely are basic adult
skills, but most of us neither study nor master them. This
class has been THE turning point for many people. You can
manage money well, save regularly, avoid debt, and retire
rich. It's a skill, and this class can help.

Finally, I am thrilled by the response to the World Class
Life Conference in Wisconsin, May 8-10th, and it looks like
the 40% discounts will be gone this week. We are about 75%
sold out, which is extraordinary! We've put together
incredible value, and I think in these troubled times, our
focus is absolutely perfect! I hope you'll join us and get 40% OFF!

3:  A Great Life Is the BEST Success!

What is your measure of success? What is your definition
of "the good life"? We live in a time when this question has
taken on real importance, and is more confusing than ever.

Certainly, the events of 9/11 and our concerns about
security have changed our world. The news is filled with
rumors of war, and thousands of our friends and loved ones
have been called to active duty.

These are troubling times, and for many they are the most
anxious times we can remember, but even so, they are not
the most anxious times in human history.

Until recently, everyone lived with the presence of death
in ways we find almost unimaginable. My great-grandfather
died of typhus as a young man. I can remember the fear of
polio in the 1950's, and many readers remember the civil
defense shelters and the "duck-and-cover" drills that were
conducted in every school.

Until recently, childbirth was a dangerous thing for both
mothers and infants; now we take it for granted and are
astonished when either mother or child fail to come home
healthy and happy.

Even things like seat belts and our concern for drunk
driving are very new. I vividly recall how common it was
to see a man or woman missing fingers or limbs because of
accidents on the farm or in a mill. It was not that many
years ago!

Only recently have we pretended we could live forever, that
we could guarantee peace and prosperity, and that tragedy
could be avoided. In contrast, throughout history most
families have known times of great loss and most lives have
been touched by profound anxiety.

In some ways, we are experiencing a return to what might,
tragically, be called more "normal" times.

In these more anxious and painful times, we are reminded
that humans have always sought comfort in their faith, and
in each other. In times of trouble, we are confronted with
the fact that the "good life" is not primarily about more
money and longer vacations. The "good life" has been
contemplated at least since Plato and Aristotle, Confucius
and Buddha, and they said a "life worth living" is focused
on our values and our contributions, rather than on the
value of our toys.

Only a few years ago, people attending my "Road to Riches"
classes came expecting to make millions in the stock
market. I recall participants sharing stock tips and
laughing about becoming mega-millionaires. Now, people come
to class asking about their retirement savings and
wondering what to do with the money they have left.

How quickly things change! How quickly life returns to

The good news is that a GREAT LIFE is available to each and
every one of us. Living well and making a difference do not
require money, fame or power. Living well is about taking
time to live your own life on your own terms. It's about
caring, and sharing. If you have the ability to make lots
of money or play on a huge stage, that's wonderful! Go for it!

Most of us, however, will play on smaller stages and our
greatest influence will be on the people we see every day.
Live well. Laugh often. Love, and dance, and share a meal
with a friend, or with a stranger. Life is short - give it
your very best, every day!

If life seems anxious, out-of-balance, rushed and
unfulfilling, please join us for the World Class Life
Conference! If you believe success is living according
to your values, based on your priorities, and doing
"first things first", this is the place for you! Register Today!

4. Quotes of the Week

"Perfection is achieved, not when there is nothing left to
add, but when there is nothing left to take away. "
                        -- Antoine de St. Exupery

"There are two lasting bequests we can give our children:
One is roots. The other is wings."
                        -- Hodding Carter, Jr.

"The best and most beautiful things in the world cannot be
seen or even touched. They must be felt with the heart."
                        -- Helen Keller

"Don't be afraid your life will end; be afraid that it will never begin."
                        -- Grace Hansen

5. Strictly Business:  Staying Focused, Using Leverage

In business, there is a key distinction between vertical
integration and horizontal sprawl. The strongest companies
understand the process of adding value by expanding their
service to existing customers.

Satisfied customers almost always WANT to do more business
with you. Isn't that true in your own case? Once you find
a store you enjoy, don't you go back over and over again?
Once you establish a relationship with an accountant,
attorney, doctor, dentist or other professional, don't you
"automatically" go back every time?

Highly successful professionals use this pattern to their

Chiropractors add products like supplements or exercise
equipment. They may contract with massage therapists,
physical therapists, nutritionists or other professionals
to leverage the relationship with their patients.

The Veterinarian we've used for years has gradually
expanded to offer grooming services, training and kennel
services. They sell dog food, toys and can even help you
locate the next family pet. One stop shopping, multiple
sources of profit, improved customer loyalty. What a

Many professionals mistakenly attempt to diversify into
markets they do not understand or that are a poor match for
their primary skills. They get spread too thin, and each
business has to be created, funded and built individually,
and that is hard work!

Instead, look for the logical, natural links that allow you
to expand the relationships you already have, provide
greater service and do more business with current
customers. It's usually easier, more fun, and more

#2    The World Class Life Conference
        May 8-10th, Green Lake, Wisconsin

In these uncertain times, many conferences and retreats are
being canceled or scaling back, but we are almost 75% sold
out with two months to go! Why? Because people are
looking for a Conference that gives them time and support
to focus on their values, to align their priorities, and
gives them the skills to create and LIVE the life they
truly want. Does your schedule reflect your values? Does
your income reflect your abilities? Are you doing work you
love and following your passion? Are you living the life
you really want to live? If not, this is for you! There are
a few early registrations slots left at 40% OFF! (Only 6
left, I believe, and this is going to almost 30,000
people!) Jump on this, bring your golf clubs, and expect
an extraordinary time of renewal!  You Deserve This!

#3  *** (almost) FREE! ***

and highly effective people ALL turn their cars and exercise
time into "learning time" by listening to valuable recordings.
This is one of the best, it's by Brian Tracy, and it's FREE!
You pay only shipping for wonderful information from one of
America's GREAT motivational speakers. Learn how people become

#4   Make Money From Your Current Website!
       (It's getting MUCH easier!)

I'm a "raving fan" of this system that makes it EASY to
sell my tapes, register people for my classes, and create
my affiliate program, and I want to give you a free tour -
and you can use the system FREE for 30 days! The owner is
Don Schnure, and he has an amazing "system" for helping me
make money with my website and newsletter, without having
to be a techno-wizard. I use the shopping cart, the
affiliate program (took less than an hour to set up!), and
the broadcast modules. It's so cool! Click here for the tour.

7. Humor:   Stuff I've Learned Along the Way

There seem to be lots of these lists of "life lessons".
Larry Katz sent me this one, it struck my funny bone and I
wanted to pass it along. Hope it makes you smile!

Now that I'm 'older' (but refuse to grow up), here's what
I've discovered:

1. I started out with nothing, and I still have most of it.

2. My wild oats have turned into prunes and All Bran.

3. I finally got my head together; now my body is falling apart.

4. Funny, I don't remember being absent minded...

5. All reports are in; life is now officially unfair.

6. If all is not lost, where is it?

7. It is easier to get older than it is to get wiser.

8. Some days you're the dog; some days you're the hydrant.

9. I wish the buck stopped here; I sure could use a few.

10. Kids in the back seat cause accidents.

11. Accidents in the back seat cause kids.

12. It's hard to make a comeback when you haven't been anywhere.

13. The only time the world beats a path to your door is
when you're in the bathroom.

14. If God wanted me to touch my toes, he would have put
them on my knees.

15. When I'm finally holding all the cards, why does
everyone decide to play chess?

16. It's not hard to meet expenses, they're everywhere.

17. The only difference between a rut and a grave is the depth.

18. These days, I spend a lot of time thinking about the
hereafter. I go somewhere to get something and then wonder
what I'm here after.

20. Funny, I don't remember being absent minded...

Be kind to yourself and to someone else, and have a
wonder-FULL week!
