1. The One-Minute TIP

Highly successful people instinctively organize their lives
around their most important goals. World class athletes
don't have to "find" time to train. Stephen King and other
prolific writers don't "try" to write! They organize their
lives and their environments to support their most
important projects. Greatness is rarely achieved in our
"spare time".

2. Welcome Notes

The response to last week's introduction of my new website
filled with resources and tools to help you achieve your
goals and transform your life was amazing! Several thousand
people visited in the first week, and I am thrilled!
(visit: )

From health and fitness issues (quitting smoking or weight-
loss for instance) to setting goals, building healthy
relationships, and building businesses, my vision is for to become a rich source of carefully
screened, high-quality tools. If you have suggestions for
tools that have actually WORKED for you, please let me
know. We will NOT post or advertise tools, even great ones,
that I'm not familiar with, but I do want to expand the
list. Check it out at:

Finally, last week I offered a free TIP to add your phone
number to the national "do not call" list to stop those
annoying telemarketers. That website again is:

And, just for fun, here is another personal recommendation:
Check out the new movie, "Seabiscuit". It will be released
this week, and I understand the reviews have been excellent.
A year ago, I recommended the book by Laura Hillenbrand,
and a couple months ago PBS did an excellent special, so
I expect the movie to be an inspiring, wonderful story!
Let's not let movies with cheap sex and mayhem get all
the biggest box-office dollars. I predict you'll enjoy

3:  Your Environment Determines Your Results

My friend and mentor, Thomas Leonard, was fond of saying
that "space management is more important than time
management." What he meant was that while we cannot
actually "manage" time (it just keeps marching forward), we
CAN and MUST manage our personal environment.

This is one of the KEY STRATEGIES of highly effective
people. They "set themselves up" for success by surrounding
themselves with the situations, tools, ideas and people
that "drive" or "pull" or "push" them in the direction of
their most important goals.

Failures and frustrated "wannabe's" live in the midst of
chaos. While they may work very hard and complain about how
busy or stressed or confusing their lives are ("there's
nothing I can do about it"), the reality is that they
permit their work, their time and their achievements to be
determined by whatever "happens to happen". That is not a
recipe for success!

This week I read an extraordinary statement from Carl Jung
that confirms this. Writing in a time when the masculine
pronoun was taken for granted, he said that man "can meet
the needs of outer necessity in an ideal way only...if he is
in harmony with himself. Conversely, he can only adapt to
his inner world and achieve harmony with himself when he is
adapted to the environmental conditions."

That is an extraordinary thing! Obviously, today it would
be phrased to include both women and men, but the point is
extremely important.

Jung was saying that we can ONLY achieve peak performance,
fulfill our potential and know inner peace when we live in
harmony with our surroundings! And yet, the vast majority
of us live in surroundings that are determined by our
employers, and by whatever dirty dishes, old newspapers or
yesterday's sandwich wrapper happen to be laying around!
That is no way to organize your life or achieve your

Thomas Leonard was a master at controlling his environment.
Although he could afford to live anywhere he chose, he
preferred small, tightly controlled spaces. And, I think
everyone who knew him would acknowledge that in his short
47 years, he achieved an extraordinary amount. The two
things - organized space and high productivity - are

Our images of extremely successful people confirm this. The
President is never surrounded by clutter. While rock stars
may throw tantrums and trash their hotel rooms, the Donald
Trumps, Bill Gates and Oprah Winfrey's of the world are
organized. They achieve great things in part because they
are not distracted or frustrated by their surroundings.

I am not a "neat freak" and readily admit that some people
are most productive when their books, papers and files are
piled around them. The point is to create and INSIST UPON
the environment that allows YOU to be most productive.

Highly successful people instinctively know this. World
class athletes don't struggle to "find" time to train. Stephen
King and other prolific writers don't "try" to write! They
organize their lives and their environments to support
their most important projects.

We can learn from these extraordinary people. We may not be
as rigorous and systematic about it (yet!), but we can
create environments that encourage and support the
achievement of our most important goals.

Greatness is rarely achieved in our "spare time".

4. Quotes of the Week

"How wonderful it is that nobody need wait a single moment
to improve the world."
                                            -- Anne Frank

"If you want to get somewhere you have to know where you
want to go and how to get there. Then never, never, never
give up."
                                            -- Norman Vincent Peale

"Only those who will risk going too far can possibly find
out how far one can go."
                                            -- T. S. Eliot

"Imagination is the highest kite that one can fly."
                                            -- Lauren Bacall

5. Strictly Business:  The Power of the MasterMind

This week I was invited to join a "MasterMind" group with
several very bright, focused, productive people. I jumped
at the chance!

A MasterMind group is simply a group of people who are
dedicated to helping themselves and each other become more
successful. They typically meet from one to four times per
month and the agenda is simple and consists of two

1. What do we each need to do to achieve our goals?
2. How can we help each other to be more successful, quicker?

As far as I know, MasterMind groups were first described by
Napoleon Hill in his book, "Think and Grow Rich", although
the concept has been around since ancient times. We all
know that the energy, creativity, accountability and
enthusiasm of sharing your goals with a group of trusted
friends is astonishing! MasterMind groups can be incredibly
rich, powerful tools to help you achieve your goals and
create the life you truly want.

MasterMind groups are different than networking or service
organizations. First of all, they are usually smaller, often
with only 3-6 people in them. Second, MasterMind groups
require a high degree of trust and some similarity in purpose.
And third, MasterMind groups generally do not charge any
fee, since the purpose is not to build the organization, but
to build up each other.

If you are not part of a MasterMind group, I encourage you
to form one. Get a group of like-minded people together,
share the concept, and agree to meet regularly (either in
person or on a conference call) to support each other. I
think you'll find the experience extremely gratifying!

6. Resources and Tools for YOUR Success!

     Tools for the Mind!

Last week I announced a new website dedicated to giving you
with the books, audio programs, software and tools you need
to be your best! In the information age, the things you
think about all day long WILL determine your future! Our
attitudes are determined by our thoughts. Our skills and
productivity are largely determined by what we know, and
how we USE what we know. This site lists ONLY tools I have
personally used, or used with my clients, and I personally
recommend them. There may be lots of other great resources
around, but these are the ones I KNOW will make a
difference. Check it out!

Transform Your Life!
The Sedona Method

People ask me how to 'really explode my success and change
my life', and after telling them there is no magic bullet,
I refer them to The Sedona Method(tm). This series of tapes
and workbooks is, without doubt, the MOST successful,
thorough and powerful program for taking charge of your
life that I have ever seen. I wish I had written it! You
can get a FREE tape to sample the program, and for goodness
sake, sign up for their free newsletter! Their simple
observation that, 'Happiness is free' was the beginning of
a remarkable journey. Very powerful stuff!

The program is not simple or cheap - you expected a quick
pill? It is comprehensive, orderly, and effective. Both
Mary and I have used it, and it works! Highly recommended!

The One Minute Millionaire
An 'Almost FREE!' book, CD & Teleclass

This is one of the most impressive books and concepts I've
ever seen. The more I see the impact it's had on my
clients, the more enthused I become! Please, do yourself a
favor and buy the CD (for $11.95) and get the book and the
classes free! They don't even charge for shipping! This is
a magnificent deal and the two-books-in-one concept is sheer
genius. Do yourself a favor, buy this, and buy one for a
friend. Buy one for your son or daughter - I believe EVERY
high school student should be required to read this book.
It's that good! Please jump on this and get your copy today.

Michael Angier was one of the first (in 1995) to create an
online community of people supporting each other for
business and personal success, and his collection of
resources is astounding! Over 87% of visitors to his site
become a free member! (This is real value!) Recently,
Michael put together a collection of bonuses worth over
$125 for everyone who becomes a Gold Member this month.
I have tremendous respect for Michael, and I've been a
Gold Member for years. Check him out, become a free member
(at least), and I highly recommend becoming a Gold Member.

Make Money From Your Current Website!
    (It's getting MUCH easier!)

I'm a "raving fan" of this system that makes it EASY to
sell my tapes, register people for my classes, and create
my affiliate program, and I want to give you a free tour -
and you can use the system FREE for 30 days! The owner is
Don Schnure, and he has an amazing "system" for helping me
make money with my website and newsletter, without having
to be a techno-wizard. I use the shopping cart, the
affiliate program (took less than an hour to set up!), and
the broadcast modules. It's so cool! Click here for the tour.

7. Humor:   What Gender Is It?

This list, and some similar ones that aren't totally suited
to TIPS, have been around for a while, but this week my good
friend Dolly Howard, sent this to me again and it still makes
me chuckle. I hope you enjoy it!

If you're like most people, common everyday items look
inert to you. But what you may not know is that many of
them have a gender. For example:

Ziploc Bags -- Male, because they hold everything in but
you can see right through them.

Copier -- Female, because once turned off, it takes a while
to warm up. It's an effective reproductive device if the right
buttons are pushed, but can wreak havoc if the wrong buttons
are pushed.

Tire -- Male, because it goes bald and it's often over inflated.

Hot Air Balloon -- Male, because to get it to go anywhere
you have to light a fire under it . . . and, of course,
there's the hot air part.

Sponges -- Female, because they're soft and squeezable and
retain water.

Web Page -- Female, because it's always getting hit on.

Subway -- Male, because it uses the same old lines to pick
people up.

Hourglass -- Female, because over time, the weight shifts
to the bottom.

Hammer -- Male, because it hasn't evolved much over the
last 5,000 years, but it's handy to have around.

Remote Control -- Female . . . Ha! You thought it'd be male.
But consider -- it gives a man pleasure, he'd be lost without
it, and while he doesn't always know the right buttons to
push, he keeps trying.

Be kind to yourself and to someone else, and have a
wonder-FULL week!
