1. The One-Minute TIP

The BIG winners in life work hard, but more importantly,
their work produces extraordinary results. Never use brute
force or will-power or muscles or crude, rude energy when a
simple plan, elegantly executed will produce more and
better results, faster and with less cost. And, let's be
honest, being smart is a heck of a lot more FUN!

2. Welcome Notes

As I write this, it's a beautiful day with a blue sky and
warm temperatures and I'm an extremely lucky guy. And, I'm
especially aware of that today because of the terrorism in
Spain. I've never been to Spain, but there is a real sense
that what touches my neighbor, touches me. My Blessings
and prayers go out to the people of Madrid, to Spain, and
to all my neighbors on this small planet.

Secondly, and in a strange way connected to that, next
Wednesday is St Patrick's Day, and while Ireland is a
wonderful country, for me it's mostly about an attitude of
joy and a celebration of life! Let's drink some green
beer, sing and dance, and celebrate and love one another!
Happy St Patty's to ya!

And...this week I finished my new book, "Alive, Awake and
Aware"! Next, it's off to my editor and then I need a
publisher - anyone know a good one? I'm not eager to self-
publish and I don't yet have an agent to represent me to
the established publishing houses, so that comes next, but
for now I'm excited to have the writing completed! (Hoist
a pint o' that green beer for me on Wednesday, will you?!)
Hopefully, the book will be out later this year.

Next, there are still openings for my Coaching Group that
begins in April. Usually these groups fill within a week,
but perhaps because it's spring, we still have room for
YOU! We'll focus on clarifying goals and direction, but
more importantly, we develop effective strategies and help
you make measurable and SPEEDY progress. If you want to
reach your goals and change your life, I hope you'll join
us. Get all the info at:

And a reminder that the annual World-Class Life(tm)
Conference in Wisconsin still has several openings. This
is my favorite project of the year, in a beautiful setting,
and I hope you'll join us! You deserve a life of joy,
fulfillment and achievement, AND you deserve time for
renewal in a magnificent setting! Check it out and take
ACTION! Do not let opportunity pass you by!

3:  To Achieve More, Do Less!

We are a society of do-ers. Particularly the highly
motivated people who read TIPS are likely to be up and
doing stuff, creating and selling and building and working
to achieve goals and make their dreams come true. We are
on the road. We have meetings and activities and calls to
make. We do too much!

And too often, we pay a high price.

Sure, you've heard that we pay a price in high blood
pressure or stress or whatever, but I'm talking about two
much more specific (and ironic!) costs we all pay for our
too-often-too-frantic pace of life.

First, we rob ourselves of results.

You read that correctly. I am convinced that often our
eagerness to achieve actually robs us of the success we
desire. How can that be? Too often the pace of life leads
to mistakes, to over-sights and carelessness, and that
costs us.

We've all heard how the rush to stay on schedule
contributed to the Challenger and Columbia shuttle
tragedies. And, in our own lives, we all have smaller
examples of that. In rushing to get to work, I forget my
briefcase. In dashing to an appointment, I fail to read
the message telling me the meeting is cancelled. In our
frantic attempts to "multi-task" nothing gets done well,
and sometimes accidents happen, and that costs everyone.

Secondly, we confuse action with results. We are so eager,
so ambitious and so full of adrenalin that we spin our
wheels, create lots of noise and smoke and confusion, but
do not necessarily produce the results we need.

Typically, that's because of poor planning. We are so
eager to get started that we skip the instructions. We use
brute force or sheer determination instead of developing a
smart, simple, elegant strategy for results. We confuse
effort with productivity, and in the long run, that is

High achievers don't work that hard.

I am convinced that the most successful people in life take
it slow. They plan and they execute with wisdom and focus
and leverage. Yes, of course they work hard, but everyone
does that. Extraordinary outcomes require a superior
strategy, and that requires thought and patience and care
and precision.

Supposedly, Abraham Lincoln said that if he had eight hours
to cut down a tree, he would spend the first seven hours
sharpening the ax. That's how the BIG winners in life do it!

To achieve more, sit down. To win BIG in the game of life,
think and read, plan and strategize. Talk with successful
people. Follow directions, use your head, stay calm and do
the "smart" thing rather than making all the noise and dust
and confusion of your competitors.

Need time and space and tools to collect your thoughts and
develop great strategies? Here are two opportunities that
could make all the difference. (Opportunity is knocking -
are you willing to open the door?) Too often we wish for
"luck" to come our way, but when opportunity does knock,
we're too busy or too distracted or too fearful to answer
the door. Don't let that be you! I hope you'll jump on
these invitations!

Three months of powerful small-group coaching! This
"Coaching Group Intensive" could be the key to unlocking
your potential. We have a few spots left, so take ACTION!

Join us in Wisconsin for 3 days of rest, renewal,
inspiration, planning and strategizing to create the life
you've always wanted! The location is perfect and we have
the tools and techniques! I hope you'll join us - you
deserve it!

4. Quotes of the Week

"In any moment of decision, the best thing you can do is
the right thing. The worst thing you can do is nothing."
                                        -- Theodore Roosevelt

"Procrastination is the natural assassin of opportunity."
                                        -- Unknown

"There is no happiness except in the realization that we
have accomplished something."
                                        -- Henry Ford

"Twenty years from now you will be more disappointed by the
things that you didn't do than by the ones you did do. So
throw off the bowlines. Sail away from the safe harbor.
Catch the trade winds in your sails. Explore. Dream. Discover."
                                        -- Mark Twain

5. Strictly Business:   Clone Yourself

One of the key distinctions between creating your own job
and building a business, is the ability to train other
people to do your work for you.

Most professionals run their "practice" as a small business
for tax and accounting reasons, but in fact they have a job
they created for themselves. They may enjoy not working
for a corporation, but they still have to show up
and do the work in order to get paid.

Increasingly, professionals are training others to do much
of what they used to do themselves. Attorneys use legal
assistants, physicians use PA's, and the most successful
real-estate sales professional I coach has a personal staff
of 4 people who work for HER, not for her employer. In
many cases, her staff can close sales, even if she is on
vacation. Her commissions continue while she is on the

Successful business people learn to delegate. They hire
experts who can strengthen and diversify the office. They
understand that training and leading a team will always be
more profitable than doing it all yourself. And, they
invest in hiring the absolute BEST, most experienced people
they can find, and they pay them very, very well. They know
that in the end, hiring good people doesn't cost; it pays!

Learn to delegate and to train and lead others. The key to
building your business is almost never "doing" more; it's
hiring and supporting great people. To increase your own
success, learn the skills of leadership!

6. Resources and Tools for YOUR Success!

#1   The World-Class Life(tm) Conference
       May 20-22, 2004

As you can imagine, there is LOTS of buzz around this
event! We've already sold over 75% of the space, which is
phenomenal! Many of last year's participants are coming
back at their own expense - that's an incredible
endorsement! - but why should you attend? Some colleagues
asked me what I thought was driving the success of WCL and
I suggested three things:

*** The well-rounded balance of the material. People are
looking for Conferences that address the whole person,
focusing on success in all areas of life, and we do that.

*** Second, the setting. Instead of trying to impress
folks with fancy destinations and high priced hotels, Green
Lake reflects our priorities of peace, beauty and balance,
and I think that attracts people. There's nothing wrong
with Orlando or Palm Springs, but I think our setting
reflects the tone and values of the Conference, and that is
extremely attractive.

*** Third, keeping our price low so folks can participate,
relax and refresh without worrying about the cost. The WCL
is less than half the cost of other conferences, and the
cost of transportation, lodging and so forth are similarly
low. That all makes the WCL a bargain, and a realistic
treat that folks feel good about.

#2   The Next Coaching Group Intensive(tm) Starts April 1st
       Small Group, Action-Oriented Coaching!
       Low-price, HIGH octane solutions!

Top achievers ALWAYS have a support team to help them cut
through the clutter, clarify their goals and take ACTION!
Presidents have advisors, athletes have coaches and the
most productive people in every field know the value of a
support TEAM. There is no point in "doing it myself" or
"re-inventing the wheel" when help, support, solutions and
brilliance are readily available! We all know that "two
heads are better than one" and that a TEAM of smart,
innovative people will beat a solitary straggler, every
time! The CGI-TEAM(tm) is limited to only 10 people and
will fill very quickly. For info and to join - - visit the
web at:

#3  Make Money From Your Current Website!
     (It's getting MUCH easier!)

I'm a "raving fan" of this system that makes it EASY to
sell my tapes, register people for my classes, and create
my affiliate program, and I want to give you a free tour -
and you can use the system FREE for 30 days! The owner is
Don Schnure, and he has an amazing "system" for helping me
make money with my website and newsletter, without having
to be a techno-wizard. I use the shopping cart, the
affiliate program (took less than an hour to set up!), and
the broadcast modules. It's so cool! Click here for the tour.

7. Humor:    Windows, Texas Edition

Paul Vogt, a fellow Oregonian who sends me lots of
chuckles, sent this a while back and I think it's very well-
done. Whoever has the talent (and time) to come up with
this, I certainly honor your wit and humor! Thank you!

It has come to our attention that a few copies of the
WINDOWS TEXAS EDITION may have accidentally been shipped
outside of Texas.

If you have one of these, you will need help understanding
the commands. The TEXAS EDITION can be recognized by the
unique opening screen. It reads: "WINDERS 2000", with a
background picture of Willie Nelson over a bottle of Jack Daniels.

Please also note:

*** The Recycle Bin is labeled "Outhouse"
*** My Computer is called "This Dern Contraption"
*** Dial Up Networking is called "Good Ol' Boys"
*** Control Panel is known as "The Dashboard"
*** Hard Drive is referred to as "4-Wheel Drive"
*** Floppies are "Them little bitty plastic thangs"
*** Instead of an error message, "Duct Tape" pops up

Reset.............try'er agin
Find..............hunt fer it
Go to.............over yonder
Back..............back yonder
Help..............hep me out here
Stop..............kwitit (WHOA!)

We regret any inconvenience this may have caused. If you
received a copy of the TEXAS EDITION, you may return it
to Microsoft for a replacement version.

I hope this helps all y'all!
