1. The One-Minute TIP

Over 100 years ago, Henry Thoreau made his famous
observation that most people live "lives of quiet
desperation" and I think it is high time we changed that.
It is entirely possible to lead a life of high productivity
and simple joy. It is possible to be focused, rested and
"on purpose" most of the time. It is not easy in our busy
world, but it is possible and you deserve nothing less.

Sometimes, we all get discouraged, tired or fired. When
that happens, we need ways to pick ourselves up, renew our
spirits and affirm our dreams. Watch for next week's TIPS,
"To Achieve Your Dreams, Jump-Start Your Day."

2. Welcome Notes

Several times in the past I've written about the excellent
service we get from Ken Allmett, "our" computer technician.
This week my computer died, and of course it did it in a
completely new and mysterious way, so I called Ken with my
usual cry of "HELP!" He arrived first thing in the morning
and quickly got me back in operation. Having friends and
experts who know and understand our needs certainly makes
life so much easier!

I can't say I wasn't stressed when my "factory" died, but
knowing that Ken would be here and take care of me sure
made it easier to endure. Surround yourself with great
people. Make this your personal "take an attorney to lunch"
week. (Or, if appropriate, set up an introduction with an
accountant, computer tech or whoever so you have the
resources and relationships in place BEFORE you need them.)

Finally, I want to introduce you to my colleague, Penny
Plautz. Penny has been a guest speaker at my World Class
Life(tm) Conference each May, and she's become a great
friend. She has developed a magnificent e-course (education
delivered by email) to help you take the next great "leap
of faith" in your life. It's simply brilliant! If you are
ready to move forward, take a chance, make a change and "go
for it", give yourself the incredible gift of expert
support along the way. Penny is GOOD! When we make changes
and "leap forward" we all need support, great ideas and
tons of energy, and Penny can help.

If you act quickly, she's allowed me to offer this for half-
price! (I told you, she's a gem!) Act today, check it out,
and for GOODness sake, sign up!

3:  Managing Time and Space

Every week I hear comments about being "too busy" or
"having too much to do." We live in a time of stress and
tight schedules. We are on the run, with too many options
and too many responsibilities, and sometimes it feels like
we MUST do them all TODAY!!!!

Often, I hear people ask for help with "time management"
when what we really need is a system for LIFE MANAGEMENT.
And here is an outline I often share with my clients. I
call it the Life-Management Progression and I think it is a
powerful concept that has implications for every area of life.

As I see it, we go through various "stages" of managing our
lives to achieve our goals and create the things we want in
life. I see us working our way up the pyramid, from the
least-effective (but most common) strategies to strategies
that are profoundly and effortlessly transforming:

1. TIME MANAGEMENT is the most common and the least
effective way to run our lives. We don't own time and it
cannot be managed. Time just "is" and it flows quickly.
What we can manage are things like our activities, our
choices, and our personal environments. If you don't
actively manage these things, other people will certainly
try to manage them for you, with frustrating results.

2. ACTIVITY MANAGEMENT has the virtue of being "do-able".
We can choose our priorities and manage our actions through
the day. Practice "single handling" whenever possible. Do
one thing at a time and do it well. Avoid dead-end
activities at all costs! Use a daily calendar and a weekly
planner. These are rather crude tools, but they are a
powerful beginning.

3. ENERGY MANAGEMENT is what most people are actually
hoping for with time/activity management. They want to get
more done with less effort and have something left for "me"
at the end of the day. Manage your energy. Sleep well, rest
often, be efficient. Do your most important work when you
are most awake. Put your best efforts into your most
important priorities and let things of secondary importance
get secondary effort. It's not the quickest or easiest path
to the good life, but it's a great start.

4. SPACE MANAGEMENT - Now things get interesting! Manage
your environment so it's hard for people and things to
interrupt you. Close the door, turn off the phone!
Eliminate anything that annoys or frustrates you - fix it,
replace it, or junk it. Make your office, car, kitchen,
bedroom and bathroom "perfect" for you. Paint the walls,
replace your desk! Take action to make things better, more
comfortable, more inspiring. You'll get more done and have
more fun doing it.

5. YOUR PERSONAL ECO-SYSTEM(tm) - This is what we're
looking for! Create a life-system that "pulls" you forward.
Surround yourself with things and people who inspire you
and make you happy, who give you energy, and who make you
productive and joyful. Even your computer should make you
smile! Fill your life with people who challenge you to be
your best. Be pro-active in every area of life so you live
well and can do the work you are called to do!

4. Quotes of the Week

"You learn in life that the only person you can really
correct and change is yourself."
                                      -- Katharine Hepburn

"There is no chance, no destiny, no fate that can
circumvent or hinder or control the firm resolve of a
determined soul."
                                      -- Ella Wheeler Wilcox

"It only takes one person to change your life - you."
                                      -- Ruth Casey"

"Change cannot be avoided... change provides the
opportunity for innovation. It gives you the chance to
demonstrate your creativity."
                                      -- Felice Jones

5. Strictly Business:   Find a Need and Fill It

Recently, Mary and I attended a class on real estate
investing and while the focus was on the nuts-and-bolts of
real estate, what struck me was that almost all the
"success stories" had to do with creating win-win

The really big money is never made by ripping people off or
over-charging. That may lead to one or a handful of
profitable transactions, but it will eventually cost you
customers, undermine your reputation, and probably run you
out of business.

The BIG money comes from finding a way to SERVE people.
Over and over again, the success stories were about helping
someone keep their home, or helping a business find a more
suitable location. The success stories that made REAL money
came from solving someone's problem!

In the end, business is always about serving a customer or
client. Successful restaurants serve the best meals.
Successful architects listen to their clients and create
buildings that serve the spirit as well as the budget.
Successful coaches help clients create masterful lives, not
just make money or win contests.

I believe it was Zig Ziglar who noted that "you can have
anything you want in life if you find a way to help enough
other people get what they want." In the long run, achievement,
wealth, fame and fortune all come from serving people.

Who are your best customers and what (exactly) do they
really need? How can you serve them better, faster, or
cheaper than anyone else?

If you want to increase sales and grow your bottom line,
find something your audience wants and serve them better
than anyone else in town. The key to success? Find a need
and fill it.

Every few weeks I publish reviews of the BEST BOOKS I've
come across, and here's the bonus -- as more author's

$2000 (Whoa!) in bonuses for helping the author achieve
"best seller" status, but the only way to get it is to
subscribe to BEST BOOKS. (Lots of authors do this; be
assured that I personally read every book I review and only
recommend books that are a great value with or without the

Many of you have purchased these audio programs to increase

health and fitness and you know how good they are! My
clients turned me on to these CD's several months ago and
I'm incredibly impressed. I strongly urge you to jump on
this! Top achievers in every field listen to audio
programs. They imagine themselves winning, getting new
records and living the life they truly WANT, and they do it
by visualizing their victories in advance with the help of
Mike's programs. These are fantastic, both for yourself and
as gifts. Grab these!

#4 Got a Website?
Earn Passive Income!

Over the years, I've paid lots of money for shopping carts,
autoresponders and systems that were supposed to help me
serve my subscribers and make money from my website. None
of them worked, or more accurately they worked, but they
were complex, confusing and didn't work very well. Then I
discovered Don Schnure and the amazing programs he's put
together. They work! They are powerful, EASY to use, and
they let me automate my newsletter, my affiliate programs
and my shopping cart, with no hassle! I love this! And, you
can use it for 30 days to check it out. Highly recommended!

7. Humor:    To Rodney Dangerfield, With Respect

This week, the world lost a gentle man and a great humorist.
Rodney Dangerfield's humor was sometimes off-color, but
never cutting or hurtful. He loved people and made them laugh,
and through his generosity he helped dozens of other great
comics get their start. John Donovan sent me a collection of
Dangerfield's great quips. I removed some of the more risque
ones, and I hope you enjoy the rest.

1. With my old man I got no respect. I asked him, "How can
I get my kite in the air?" He told me to run off a cliff.

2. During sex, my girlfriend always wants to talk to me.
Just the other night she called me from a motel.

3. One day I came home early from work. I saw a guy jogging
naked. I said to the guy, "Hey buddy, why are you doing
that?" He said, "Because you came home early."

4. I was such an ugly kid that when I played in the
sandbox, the cat kept covering me up.

5. I could tell my parents hated me. My bath toys were a
toaster and radio.

6. I'm so ugly that my father carries around a picture of
the kid who came with the wallet.

7. I'm so ugly that my mother had morning
sickness.....AFTER I was born.

8. I remember the time that I was kidnapped and they sent a
piece of my finger to my father. He said he wanted more proof.

9. Once when I was lost, I saw a policeman and asked him to
help me find my parents. I said to him, "Do you think we'll
ever find them?" He said, "I Don't know kid. There's so
many places they can hide."

10. My wife made me join a bridge club. I'm supposed to
jump off next Tuesday.

11. I'm so ugly that when I worked in a pet shop as a kid,
people kept asking the manager how big I'd get.

12. I was taken to the doctor in an ambulance because I'd
swallowed a bottle of sleeping pills. The doctor told me to
have a few drinks and get some rest.

13. A girl phoned me the other day and said, "Come on over,
nobody's home." I went over. Nobody was home.

14. One year they wanted to make me poster boy - for birth

15. My uncle's dying wish was to have me sitting in his
lap; he was in the electric chair.

16. My wife and I were happy for twenty years. Then we met.

Be kind to yourself and to someone else, and have a
wonder-FULL week!
