1. The One-Minute TIP

Many of us have no strategy for achieving the things we
want in life, while others use strategies with little
likelihood of success. Many of us are trying to find peace
by working more and more. We are trying to find joy by
doing jobs we despise. We are trying to find happiness in
all the wrong places. You need a smart strategy! You CAN
have just about anything you want in life, but you need a
plan and a path to get there.

2. Welcome Notes

I trust you had a wonderful Valentine's Day! Wouldn't it be
fun to repeat Valentine's Day this week, just to surprise
someone? Send a card, make a call, buy some flowers, tell
someone you care about them. I try to buy flowers for Mary
at least once a month, partly because she likes it, but
mostly because I've noticed I get a fantastic return on the
investment! Guys, be selfish - give flowers! <g>

I continue to be excited about our 11th Annual World Class
Life Conference(tm) in May. We had several more people
register this week, although two women from Georgia had to
cancel, so there is still plenty of space. I've announced
this for about 3 weeks now, and I think we're about two-
thirds filled, with maybe 12-14 spots left.

This is a time for YOU. It's time to relax and focus on
your life, your values, your dreams and your strategies.

What will you get? You'll gain clarity, self-confidence and
personal power. You'll define YOUR life, exactly the way
you want it. You'll get help with prioritizing and solving
problems, with defining your goals and (more importantly)
help in devising elegant, joyful solutions to achieve them.
I hope you'll join us!

3:  Three Steps to The Good Life

Is your life working exactly the way you hoped it would? Do
you have all the fun, health, wealth, friends and satisfaction
you would like? Most people, of course, answer, "no." For
most of us life has far too much stress. We work too hard,
finances are a question, our health may not be what we wish,
and so forth.

And yet we live in the richest, most blessed time in human
history. We are surrounded by opportunity, money, education
and travel. We live longer than ever! And yet. As George
Carlin used to say in his wonderful comedy routine,
sometimes it seems we are literally drowning in our own
"stuff." We have more stuff, but we are not happier.

What's going on?

My sense is that very few people ever study happiness and
joy. Most of us just do what the neighbors do. We do what
our family and friends and colleagues do. We chase the same
dreams and buy the same cars and live in the same
neighborhoods, and rarely stop to ask, "What would REALLY
make MY life worthwhile?" And that's a shame.

I think happiness can be had quite easily. Here are my
three simple (not easy, but simple) steps:

1. Who Am I?

This is a classic question and one we rarely ponder. As
John Bradshaw noted, we have become "human doings" instead
of human beings. We are too busy to keep journals, too busy
to sit still and know ourselves. We forget to ask the most
basic questions about who we are and what makes us happy.
We lose sight of a life that is wonderful, exciting,
fulfilling and peaceful. I think happiness begins by
knowing who we are. "First, know thyself."

2. What Do I Want?

The second question is to choose your direction in life. As
I've written many times, you can have anything you want in
life, but you cannot have everything you might desire in
life. Too many of us refuse to choose. We are seduced by
money, power, or "necessity." We are trapped by our own
appetites for prestige, approval, and by the simple
momentum of going to work every day.

We forget to ask, "Who Am I and What Do I Truly Want In
My Life?" This is your one and only, precious life. What
will you do with it? What do you value most?

3. How Will I Get It?

The third step is to have a strategy. Many of us have no
strategy, while others use strategies with little
likelihood of success. They (whoever they are) tell us it
is impossible for cities to solve congestion by building
more highways. It's a tempting but ultimately futile
solution. And many of us are trying to find peace by
working more and more. We are trying to find joy by doing
jobs we despise. We are trying to find happiness in all the
wrong places.

You need a smart strategy! You CAN have just about anything
you want in life, but you need a plan and a path to get

And yes, there are a couple more pieces that are helpful. A
support team of family and friends to cheer you on is
wonderful. And, of course, daily discipline and hard work
will speed things up, but the essentials are very, very
simple. Know who you are, know what you want, and have a
smart strategy with a high probability of success. The
results are a joy to behold!

Would you like more joy in your life? High achievers
take time for themselves. They define their values and
develop elegant strategies. You can should too! You
deserve this! Join us for the World Class Life Conference,

4. Quotes of the Week

"The minute you settle for less than you deserve, you get
even less than you settled for."
                                     -- Maureen Dowd

"My success just evolved from working hard at the business
at hand each day."
                                     -- Johnny Carson

"The lure of the distant and the difficult is deceptive. The great
opportunity is where you are."
                                     -- John Burroughs

"There is no chance, no destiny, no fate that can circumvent
or hinder or control the firm resolve of a determined soul."
                                     -- Ella Wheeler Wilcox

5. Strictly Business:   Goals vs. Decisions

I recently sent a note to my 1st Team Coaching group about
the distinction between goals and decisions. In the
business world, I suspect clear decisions are more
important and more profitable than clear goals.

We all know the power and importance of goals. Every
business should have a business plan, a set of goals,
procedures and benchmarks for its success. We KNOW how
important this is!

But the daily decision to provide extraordinary customer
service, to "go the extra mile" in terms of service and
value is not a goal, it's RIGHT NOW!

Customers do not care about your goals. They do not know or
care about your dreams, your business plan or your budget.
They don't know or care about your personnel problems, your
cash-flow or anything else.

Customers only know and care about the decision you make
RIGHT NOW! They care how you answer the phone. They know
and care about the tone of your voice, your eagerness to
serve. They know and care about your decision to deliver on
time and on budget.

Customers notice your daily decisions. They notice whether
your office is welcoming and comfortable. They notice
whether you keep your promises and whether you do even more
than you promised.

The daily decisions we make determine our outcomes far more
powerfully than the goals we set or the dreams we dream.

Make smart, powerful, customer-centered decisions in the
small things and the long-term profits will take care of

6. Resources and Tools for YOUR Success!

#1    The 11th Annual World Class Life Conference
May 12-14th, in Green Lake, WI
Open the Door to Your Future!
         Create the Life You Love!

There are two groups of people who eagerly attend this
Conference every year: (1) High achievers who know the
extraordinary value of gaining perspective, personal power
and renewal, and (2) high achievers who are sick and tired
(frustrated!) with their sense of "permanent potential."

I'm told Bill Gates takes a two-week retreat on Hood Canal
four times a year. He knows the value of time to think, to
relax, to let his imagination run wild and gain
perspective. Bill Clinton made the Renaissance retreat in
Hilton Head famous and it's attended by dozens of the
richest, most powerful people in America every New Year.
Imagine, putting yourself in a beautiful setting and
surrounding yourself with bright, dedicated, success people
who were there to help you do better! YOU CAN DO THIS!

I invite you to join us in Wisconsin at one of the most
beautiful retreat centers in the world. We'll focus on YOU.
We focus on the keys to "the good life." We focus on the
strategies that work, and we network with people who can
help us "get there." This is my favorite event of the year,
because it's the BEST VALUE and the MOST POWERFUL. I hope
you'll join us! Take action, check it out, and register!

#2    Think Right Now!
The Best Tools for CHANGE I've Found!

Many of you have purchased these audio programs to increase
sales, lose weight, set and achieve goals or improve diet,
health and fitness and you know how good they are! My
clients turned me on to these CD's several months ago and
I'm incredibly impressed. I strongly urge you to jump on
this! Top achievers in every field listen to audio
programs. They imagine themselves winning, getting new
records and living the life they truly WANT, and they do it
by visualizing their victories in advance with the help of
Mike's programs. These are fantastic, both for yourself and
as gifts. Grab these!

#3      Got a Website?
          Earn Passive Income!

Over the years, I've paid lots of money for shopping carts,
autoresponders and systems that were supposed to help me
serve my subscribers and make money from my website. None
of them worked, or more accurately they worked, but they
were complex, confusing and didn't work very well. Then I
discovered Don Schnure and the amazing programs he's put
together. They work! They are powerful, EASY to use, and
they let me automate my newsletter, my affiliate programs
and my shopping cart, with no hassle! I love this! And, you
can use it for 30 days to check it out. Highly recommended!

7. Humor:    "Who's On First?" - The Next Generation

I would love to give credit to whoever created this amazing
piece of dialogue! Some people have incredible talent and
creativity, and my hat's off to them. This was sent to me
by my friend, Bill Barrows, and I thought it was fantastic.

For those who have seen or heard the classic Abbott and
Costello routine, "Who's On First", here's an up-dated

George: Condi! Nice to see you. What's happening?

Condi: Sir, I have a report about the new leader of China.

George: Great. Lay it on me.

Condi: Hu is the new leader of China.

George: That's what I want to know.

Condi: That's what I'm telling you.

George: That's what I'm asking. Who is the new leader of China?

Condi: Yes.

George: I mean the fellow's name.

Condi: Hu.

George: The guy in China.

Condi: Hu.

George: The new leader of China.

Condi: Hu.

George: The main man in China!

Condi: Hu is leading China.

George: Now whaddya' asking me for?

Condi: I'm telling you, Hu is leading China.

George: Well, I'm asking you. Who is leading China?

Condi: That's the man's name.

George: That's who's name?

Condi: Yes.

George: Will you, or will you not, tell me the name of the
new leader of China?

Condi: Yes, sir.

George: Yassir? Yassir Arafat is in China? I thought he's
dead in the Middle East.

Condi: That's correct.

George: Then who is in China?

Condi: Yes, sir.

George: Yassir is in China?

Condi: No, sir.

George: Then who is?

Condi: Yes, sir.

George: Yassir?

Condi: No, sir.

George: Look Condi. I need to know the name of the new
leader of China. Get me the Secretary General of the U.N.
on the phone.

Condi: Kofi?

George: No, thanks.

Condi: You want Kofi?

George: No.

Condi: You don't want Kofi.

George: No. But now that you mention it, I could use a
glass of milk. And then get me the U.N.

Condi: Yes, sir.

George: Not Yassir! The guy at the U.N.

Condi: Kofi?

George: Milk! Will you please make the call?

Condi: And call who?

George: Who is the guy at the U.N?

Condi: Hu is the guy in China.

George: Will you stay out of China?!

Condi: Yes, sir.

George: And stay out of the Middle East! Just get me the
guy at the U.N.

Condi: Kofi.

George: All right! With cream and two sugars. Now get on
the phone

Be kind to yourself and to someone else, and have a
wonder-FULL week!
