1. The One-Minute TIP

To bridge the gap between your goals and your daily
results, use Intelligent Choices (IC's) and design a
Personal Eco-System (PE) that works to your advantage. You
can do this! The world "out there" does not care about your
success, so create a micro-universe in your home and office
that is focused entirely on the goals you want to achieve.
I think you'll like the results.

2. Welcome Notes

This week the 12-year old daughter of one of my golfing
buddies had a nasty scare online. She was chatting with her
friends online like she does - or did - nearly every day
when she realized something was "wrong." Fortunately, she
talked with her parents and no real harm was done, but
please (Please!) talk with your kids about being safe.

I don't know that the world is statistically less safe than
forty years ago, but there seems to be a wider variety of
risks now. Stay informed. Talk with your children, and why
not be slightly pushy and encourage friends and colleagues
to talk with their children, too? It might save a world of

On a brighter note, I'm back out on the deck typing this as
the birds sing, and Cody has taken his accustomed spot at
my feet, where treats and snacks have been known to fall.
Spring in Oregon is a wonderful thing! I hope you're having
a GREAT week. Or as the line from Star Trek went, decide
to, "Make it so."

Finally, a quick reminder that our World Class Life
Conference begins in just 10 days and we've had two last
minute cancellations. If you can get away on short notice
and have been "wanting" to do this, I urge you to jump on
this opportunity. It's a powerful, life-changing event in a
world-class setting. It's the perfect chance for a couple
to set new goals, re-affirm old ones, and develop powerful
strategies to move forward. Either individually or as a
couple, I hope you'll join us. Just visit the website and
register, but take action and do it today!

3:  Bridging the Gap from Goals to Results, Part 2

We all have things we want. We desire health and long life,
wealth, perhaps a measure of fame or recognition, loving
relationships and so forth, and I want to talk about the
gap between these goals and the results we see in our daily

The problem is that too many of us are making too little
progress. Too often, there is a gap between our vision of
the future and the results in our daily lives. The great
frustration is that we know this is NOT true for everyone.
Some people get amazing results! Some people move from goal
to goal, climbing the ladder of success in every area of
life. How do they do it?

After 25 years of coaching, I know the difference is not in
the person, but in what they do on a daily basis. The
difference is not talent or genius or genetics. The
difference is the system!

Last week I talked about the distinction between
Intelligent Choices (IC's) that take us forward, and
Automatic Choices (AC's) that keep us in safe, familiar
ruts. (You can read it at:

This week, I want to talk about a second distinction that
highly effective people use to accomplish extraordinary

They understand the distinction between a productive
Personal Eco-SystemT (PE) and the Global Environment (GE)
around them. They design a private "universe" in which they
flourish, with systems and environments that support and
automatically push them toward their goals.

Each of us do better in some situations than others. Some
of us love a cluttered desk and busy office. Others need
neatness and silence. Some work best in a group, others
prefer to work alone.

Highly successful people use these personal preferences to
their advantage. They invest time and thought in their
Personal Eco-SystemT. For me, a clean desk helps me avoid
distractions. In contrast, Mary's office is a "mess," which
simply means she prefers having lots of projects in plain
sight. We're different, and each of us does our best work
in a different setting. Where do you do your best work?

Beyond their Personal Eco-SystemT, high achievers
understand we live in a world that is constantly inviting
us to do what other people want rather than the things that
will take us to our goals. The Global Environment (GE)
continually tempts us away from our goals.

We are invited to watch television, to go out, to spend too
much, to eat too much, or attend wasteful meetings. We are
encouraged, sometimes "required" to spend time on things
that directly undermine our success. Successful people
understand the Global Environment around and take steps to
limit its impact on their lives and their results.

They turn off the television. Sometimes, they turn off
their phones. They say a polite "No" to most invitations.
They leave their credit cards at home.

Here's one small example: instead of listening to the radio
on their morning commute, high achievers might listen to
Mozart or their favorite audio book. Here's a another
example. One of my clients is a partner in a law firm and
when they re-modeled, instead of making every office the
same, they gave each staff person time and money to design
their own workspace. Productivity soared!

Understand that the world "out there" (the Global
Environment) is designed to make you do what other people
want you to do. In contrast, successful people design
Personal Eco-SystemsT that encourage, motivate and focus
them on their most important goals. You can do this, too!

Do you think Bill Gates, Martha Stewart or Oprah Winfrey
live and work in environments that confuse, distract or
undermine them? I don't think so!

4. Quotes of the Week

"Every man dies. Not every man truly lives."
                                                -- Braveheart

"Hold fast to dreams, for if dreams die, life is like a
broken wing'd bird that can not fly."
                                                -- Langston Hughes"

"Love does not make the world go round. Love is what makes
the ride worthwhile."
                                                -- Franklin P. Jones

"I find the great thing in this world is not so much where
we stand, as in what direction we are moving."
                                                -- Olive Wendell Holmes, Sr.

5. Strictly Business:   Getting Noticed in a Fast-Moving Crowd

This week I saw one of those studies that claim we are
exposed to over 3500 marketing messages every day of our
lives. I have no idea how these things are measured, but
when I see my junk mail, listen to the radio or surf the
Internet, I believe it's true.

The challenge for any business is to get noticed in such a
vast sea of noise and sheer nonsense. In a world of spam
and "personalized" advertising, how will your business
reach new customers?

My own sense is that advertising is less and less
effective. I suspect that most of us are almost immune to
most advertising. I think our brains have become like
television remote controls and we simply turn off, tune out
and insolate ourselves from as many ads as possible.

On the other hand, I'm convinced that positive word-of-
mouth is more trusted and more powerful than ever. We pay
attention when a friend praises their auto mechanic, lawyer
or other professional. How often have you gone to a movie,
tried a new restaurant or even bought a car because someone
insisted they "absolutely loved" it? Most of us have done

Rather than spend more and more on more advertising, why
not invest in the customers you already have? Why not work
with people you already know?

How do you do that? Simple! Here are two of the most common

First, give great service. Go the extra mile. Do something
"above and beyond." Surprise your clients and see what
happens. I think you'll find the investment turns out to be
a bargain.

Second, specifically encourage your clients to make
referrals. If it's ethical in your profession or business,
start a "rewards" program. Give gift certificates or at
least a thank-you card to every client who refers a friend.
It's easy, it's inexpensive, and it works.

6. Resources and Tools for YOUR Success!

#1    The 11th Annual World Class Life Conference
Your Key to Peace, Passion, Power, Purpose
         And Prosperity!

Every individual DESERVES and has the POWER to live a GREAT
life! There is no question about that. Each of us has the
ability to live with peace and passion, with purpose and
power and style. There may be an upper limit to how fast we
can run or how high we can jump, but what are the upper
limits of happiness, joy, health or prosperity? They do not
exist! There are no limits to how much we can love, or how
far we can go, except the limits we place on ourselves.

This Conference is designed to help each participant break
though, see new possibilities and - most importantly -
develop elegant, EFFECTIVE strategies to create the life
they truly want. No one stands in your way, except
yourself. There are no limits, only problems we haven't yet
solved. Join us for three days in a beautiful setting to
focus on your goals, and how to achieve them. Join us for
strategies and tools, for resources and insights to make
YOUR life easier, happier, more powerful and more
productive. You can do this!

I hope you'll seize this opportunity! Why wait? Get info
and register at:

2.    Claim Your Power Now!
The Key to End Procrastination and
       Achieve Your Goals

I am thrilled to share the stage with Jim Rohn, Bob
Proctor, Michael Angier, Vic Johnson and others for a
series of one-day seminars to help you end procrastination,
"Claim Your Power" and transform you life! I'm very excited
and I hope you'll take action and join us!

We'll be in Houston, Dallas, Chicago and Toronto, then on
to New York and Florida, so you have no excuse. We're
coming to a city near you with information, skills, tools
and practical, immediately-useful resources you can (and
WILL) use for the rest of your life. PLEASE, do yourself a
favor, invest one day and a few dollars in yourself and in
your future. Remember the saying, "insanity is doing the
same thing over and over, hoping for a different result."
Don't do that!

It's time to make the changes and be empowered to achieve
more than you've ever thought possible. You can do it, but
not unless (or until) you get the tools you need. Vic has
created a wonderful 5-part program to introduce you to
these events, and it's absolutely free! At the very least,
check it out, get the 5-part series, and then attend the

#3    Think Right Now!
The Best Tools for CHANGE I've Found!

Many of you have purchased these audio programs to increase
sales, lose weight, set and achieve goals or improve diet,
health and fitness and you know how good they are! My
clients turned me on to these CD's several months ago and
I'm incredibly impressed. I strongly urge you to jump on
this! Top achievers in every field listen to audio
programs. They imagine themselves winning, getting new
records and living the life they truly WANT, and they do it
by visualizing their victories in advance with the help of
Mike's programs. These are fantastic, both for yourself and
as gifts. Grab these!

#4    Got a Website?
        Earn Passive Income!

Over the years, I've paid lots of money for shopping carts,
autoresponders and systems that were supposed to help me
serve my subscribers and make money from my website. None
of them worked, or more accurately they worked, but they
were complex, confusing and didn't work very well. Then I
discovered Don Schnure and the amazing programs he's put
together. They work! They are powerful, EASY to use, and
they let me automate my newsletter, my affiliate programs
and my shopping cart, with no hassle! I love this! And, you
can use it for 30 days to check it out. Highly recommended!

7. Humor:    Signs You Have Finally Grown Up

Once again, Bill Barrows has come through with some very
enlightening insights about real life. These may not be
funny (some are actually quite sad) but they did make me
chuckle. I hope you enjoy them - and that not a single one
of them applies to you or any of your friends! <g>

1. Your houseplants are alive, and you can't smoke any of them.
2. Having sex in a twin bed is out of the question.
3. You keep more food than beer in the fridge.
4. 6:00 AM is when you get up, not when you go to bed.
5. You hear your favorite song in an elevator.
6. You watch the Weather Channel.
7. Your friends marry and divorce instead of "hook up" and "break up."
8. You go from 130 days of vacation time to 14.
9. Jeans and a sweater no longer qualify as "dressed up."
10. You're the one calling the police because those %&@#
kids next door won't turn down the stereo.
11. Older relatives feel comfortable telling sex jokes around you.
12. You don't know what time Taco Bell closes anymore.
13. Your car insurance goes down and your car payments go up.
14. You feed your dog Science Diet instead of McDonald's leftovers.
15. Sleeping on the couch makes your back hurt.
16. You take naps.
17. Dinner and a movie is the whole date instead of the beginning of one.
18. Eating a basket of chicken wings at 3 AM would severely upset,
      rather than settle, your stomach.
19. You go to the drug store for ibuprofen and antacid, not
       condoms and pregnancy tests.
20. A $4.00 bottle of wine is no longer "pretty good stuff."
21. You actually eat breakfast food at breakfast time.
22. "I just can't drink the way I used to" replaces "I'm never going
       to drink that much again."
23. Most of the time you spend at the computer is for actual work.
24. You drink at home to save money.
25. When you find out a friend is pregnant you congratulate them
instead of asking "Oh No! What the hell happened?"

26: You read this entire list looking desperately for a
sign that doesn't apply to you and can't find one to save
your sorry old butt. Then you forward it to a bunch of old
pals & friends because you know they'll enjoy it & do the

Be kind to yourself and to someone else, and have a
wonder-FULL week!
