1. The One-Minute TIP

You have enormous personal power! You have influence over
your own life and over the people around you. Your dreams
matter! Your desires are achievable, but only if you take
action. Use your power. Start where you are, move slowly if
you must, but get moving. Day be day, move in the direction
of your heart's greatest desire. And never, never quit.

2. Welcome Notes

Every year, Mary and I promise ourselves that "this year
we're going to have a summer." It's a joke based on the
years when we've suddenly realized it's September and we
never stopped to really enjoy the summer. This year, we're
doing better!

Two weeks ago we went to Portland for the weekend, then
over the 4th of July we took some time for the beach, and
this week we visited the mountains for a snowball fight!
It's kind of fun to play in the snow in the morning, and
play golf in the afternoon!

I share that partly to brag - it's nice to have good
stories to tell! - and to invite you to share the fun.
Wherever you are, be sure to "have a summer." Take the kids
to a ball game or the beach. Go to the park, visit a
museum, take a hike. Take a loved one to a nice caf‚ for a
cup of coffee and just talk. Make sure you get a summer!

Also, a reminder that there are only three weeks, and less
than 29 rooms left for the "Claim Your Power NOW"
conference in Atlanta, July 28-30th. I would love to meet
lots of you there! Live conferences have power, inspiration
and solutions! Do yourself a huge favor and join us!

And here's the BIG ANNOUNCEMENT! For the few months, I'll
have a "monthly theme" for TIPS. Each week during the
month, we'll focus on one issue, leading up to a conference
call where we can "talk it over" at the end of the month.
My hope is this will make TIPS far more valuable. I think
the chance to look at "big issues" in more depth will be
helpful. And as always, your comments and feedback are

For July, we'll look at "Personal Power" and how we use (or
don't use) our resources to create the lives we want. Here
we go!

3:  The Power to Get Stuff Done

Every human being has enormous power. Over the past three
years, I've watched a client go from debt-ridden middle-
class living, to being a multi-millionaire. He's currently
involved in project that will create about three million
dollars of personal income for him this year! He's 41 years
old and he's had the power to do this most of his life, but
only in the past three years has he learned to use, focus
and unleash his power in productive ways. What a

You have that same power!

One of the key turning points for me was when a highly
successful friend of mine flew across the country to spend
time with a colleague who was earning far more than my
friend. His reason? My friend told me, "obviously, he uses
his time differently than I do." What an insight! We ALL
have 24 hours in a day. We ALL have enormous power, but we
use our time and our power in different ways, and we get
different results.

What keeps you from using your power in more productive
ways? That's a critical question!

I've studied highly successful people for over 30 years,
and I've also studied many "almost successful" people, and
here are some of the key differences.

1. FEAR! There's a wonderful quote that is attributed to
both Nelson Mendela and Marianne Williamson, that we are
not afraid we are powerless, but that we are powerful
"beyond measure." I love that! We know we are powerful.
Right now, you have the power to change your diet, to
change your living situation, to change your habits. We all
know this. But we also know that if we make changes, our
lives will change (duh!), and so we hold back. We avoid
risk. We play it safe, and we give up our power.

The answer is certainly not recklessness! But we can use
our power a bit more aggressively than we have in the past.
Make a few changes. Talk with family and colleagues to
reach agreements, then take charge. Take the risk. See what

2. Do What You Can. Even the President does not have
unlimited power! Successful people, however, take the steps
they can and they make consistent, daily progress. "Inch by
inch, anything's a cinch." "Rome wasn't built in a day,"
and few of the big things in life will happen over-night,
but day by day, move in the direction you want to go.

Even if you could, making massive changes all at once may
not be wise! Use your power to make changes day by day, and
you'll reach your goal in a more life-affirming way. Take
action. Do what you can every single day.

3. Start Where You Are. How many people have avoided
seeking wealth because, "it takes money to make money?"
Hogwash! It takes ideas and initiative, creativity,
determination and a good business plan to make money! It
takes personal power, and you have that! Start where you
are and, trust me, investors will flock to help, checkbooks
in hand!

4. Get Partners. Very few things in life are achieved by
acting alone. We think of Rosa Parks refusing to give up
her seat on the bus and the social changes that resulted,
but remember - while Rosa acted alone, the great social
changes came because thousands of other people were
inspired and joined her! You have the power to be a
sparkplug! Don't forget that! Start something! And along
with way, you'll find partners and colleagues to help.

This is where a good coach is incredibly valuable! Have
someone from the "outside" to encourage and guide you,
someone who is objective, trusted, and smart. EVERY high
achiever has a team of smart people behind them. They may
be called advisors or "staff" or something else, but to get
maximum performance from your personal power, get a coach!
You'll love the difference!

You have enormous personal power! You have influence over
your own life and over the people around you. Your dreams
matter! Your desires are achievable, but only if you take
action. Use your power. Start where you are, move slowly if
you must, but get moving. Day be day, move in the direction
of your heart's greatest desire. And never, never quit.

4. Quotes of the Week

"If you can DREAM it, you can DO it."
                                      --Walt Disney

"In any moment of decision, the best thing you can do is
the right thing. The worst thing you can do is nothing."
                                      -- Theodore Roosevelt

"I am not a special person. I am a regular person who does
special things."
                                      -- Sarah Vaughan

"If you are on the road to nowhere, find another road."
                                      -- Ashanti proverb

5. Strictly Business:   Tax Strategies for 2006

Now is the time to focus on your taxes for 2006. A huge
number of TIPS subscribers are paying far too much in taxes
while retaining too little of their hard-earned revenue for
future growth. It's time to change that.

First, a couple of basics. Never (NEVER!) cheat the
Government! Pay every penny of tax you owe and don't cut
corners. While everyone wishes taxes were lower, we get a
tremendous amount of service for what we pay. Don't cheat.

Second, get good advice. The tax code has thousands of
pages of fine print and no one understands all of it, least
of all a busy professional or small business owner who
would rather spend their time serving customers and doing
work they love. A great accountant (and legal advice)
doesn't cost, it pays both directly, and indirectly in
helping you design better systems. Hire the best
professionals you can find and follow their advice.

Third, here are a couple of "general" guidelines. First,
everyone should have their own business, whether your
primary income is from a salary or not. There are too many
opportunities and potential tax advantages from a part-time
business to ignore them.

Next, give serious consideration to the type of "entity"
you set up. Most businesses are set up as "sole
proprietorships" and that's stupid. There's too much
liability exposure, and you forfeit too many tax
advantages. Why pay for the "privilege" of exposing
yourself to extra risk?

Finally, plan now for next tax season. Talk with your
accountant about "retained earnings," an appropriate
depreciation schedule, and tax-deferred investing. Don't
wait until the end of year. Do it now.

How Ordinary People Create Extraordinary Lives
My new Book and Audio Programs

"Leaders are readers." We've all heard this phrase, and we
know that highly successful people invest in their
education. They read for inspiration, for information, for
motivation and for examples. We also know that most people
read very little, and it shows in their lives.

One of the best things you can do is spend just 15 minutes
a day reading a positive, educational book to enrich your
life, and yet most people never do. I urge you to buy and
read this book! Think about your values, learn how other
people organize their time and create the life of their
dreams. There are no "secrets," just models and choices
that make all the difference.

You can get the book (I'll even pay the shipping) or the
audio programs, or both, whichever suits you best. But
invest in yourself. I hope you'll check it out and make the
small investment to create the extraordinary life you

     "Presentations Made Simple"
Organize, Prepare and Deliver GREAT Presentations
     Without Stress, Worry or Fear

Last week, over 100 subscribers signed up for Dawn's free
bonuses and that's a great start! Now, I want ALL the rest
of you to do this! We all have to make presentations from
time to time. Some of us do it professionally and we MUST
do a great job, every time. Other's speak or teach rarely,
and we need all the tools and confidence we can get because
even if you only speak at family reunions or to your club
or church group occasionally, you want to be calm, clear
and effective.

Get and read this wonderful collection of resources. As a
professional speaker, I learned (and was reminded of)
dozens of tips, large and small, to make my presentations
more powerful. For people who present only occasionally,
the ability to relax, know that you're organized and
"ready" is priceless. We know that many people fear public
speaking, and much of that fear comes from not feeling
confident. Do yourself a favor - get these tools and keep
them in your office. When your time comes, you'll be glad
to have them within reach!

     Earn Passive Income!

Over the years, I've paid lots of money for shopping carts,
autoresponders and systems that were supposed to help me
serve my subscribers and make money from my website. None
of them worked, or more accurately they worked, but they
were complex, confusing and didn't work very well. Then I
discovered Don Schnure and the amazing programs he's put
together. They work! They are powerful, EASY to use, and
they let me automate my newsletter, my affiliate programs
and my shopping cart, with no hassle! I love this! And, you
can use it for 30 days to check it out. Highly recommended!

My friend and frequent source of chuckles, Dolly Howard,
