1. The One-Minute TIP

You have unlimited power! You can choose what to do with
your life, and with your day. You have influence over the
people around you, over your daily schedule and daily
activities. You can control many things in life - not all
things by any means, but many things. Whether you take
charge, choose a direction and move forward or not is
largely a choice. Remember the old saying, "use it or lose
it?" I recommend that you choose to use your power.

2. Welcome Notes

The response to last week's TIPS on personal power was
extremely gratifying! I received lots of emails with
appreciation for that issue and supporting the idea of a
monthly "theme" so we can explore some of life's "big
ideas" in more detail. This week, we'll continue our July
focus on using personal power to achieve more and better

And, watch for a special announcement about a conference
call where we can get together, review the month's key
points, ask questions, and support one another in "getting
more of the important stuff done."

Finally, we're in the home-stretch of preparing for the
"Claim Your Power NOW!" conference in Atlanta. Mary bought
a couple new suits, I'm putting the final touches on my
presentation, we're shipping books and making plans for
dinner with friends. This will be one of the GREAT
conferences for personal development, inspiration, and
solutions all year long. There are only a few seats left
(sections A and B are almost sold out) and I hope you'll
join us. If you're ready to move forward, solve problems
and achieve more, take action! Get the info, register for
the no-cost audio seminars, and JOIN US! It's at:

3:  Four Steps to Unleash Your Personal Power

We've been looking at the enormous potential each of us has
to change the world. Every human being is filled with
creativity, dreams, drive, and untapped potential. We all
know this.

We've all heard the classic stories, from "Grandma Moses"
who began painting in her seventies, to Colonel Harland
Sanders, the guy who didn't like retiring poor and decided
to do something with his fried chicken recipe. As they say,
"the rest is history!"

I'm always moved by the story of Roger Bannister, the first
man to run a mile in less than four minutes. He did it and
most of the world was astounded. But more importantly, a
handful of athletes around the world were inspired (and
perhaps a bit angry). They set out to duplicate his
achievement and within a year, 9 other men has ALSO broken
four minutes! That power was ALWAYS available! It just had
to be unleashed.

The same is true for each of us. Whether you aspire to
success in business, health, fitness, family, spirituality
or some other area of life, you have plenty of power! The
key is unleashing it!

Here are four elements I consider essential. In my coaching
with individual clients, these four points are always
covered in detail:

1. A Sense of Direction. You have to decide where you want
to go, what you want to achieve. Without a sense of
direction, we're like a weather-vane, kicked around by
whatever winds life throws at us. Some people are blessed
with a life-long sense of personal destiny, but for most of
us, self-direction comes down to more practical projects.
We want a raise. We want to win a contest, run a marathon,
spend more time as a family, have more money in the bank.
The key is that you must CHOOSE!

You have the power to achieve almost anything you want in
life, but only with personal commitment and persistence. We
all know the story that, without a compass or point of
reference, a person lost in the wilderness inevitably walks
in a circle. Don't let your life become a series of
"wanderings!" Choose.

2. Extreme Clarity. Once you've chosen a direction, choose
a precise, clearly defined target. Take time to describe
exactly what you want. It's not terribly helpful to say "I
wish I were healthier." But it can be extremely helpful to
say, "I want to weigh 160 pounds, with blood pressure of
120 over 75."

Clarity about our goals immediately suggests a variety of
strategies we might use. It empowers us to ask better
questions, to set intermediate goals, to ask for coaching
or suggestions, and to get the support we need. In many
ways, "Clarity IS power." Get very clear about what you

3. Laser-sharp Focus. We all know that on even the
warmest summer day, the sun's rays provide only a small
amount of heat. It can make us uncomfortable, perhaps burn
our skin or create a small electric current, but that's
about all. And yet, when that same power is FOCUSED with a
series of mirrors or a magnifying glass, something
miraculous happens. Suddenly we have fire!

Many people have a sense of direction and even take time to
define their outcomes with a series of written goals, but
they refuse to organize their lives and focus their time,
their energy and their efforts. They are literally "running
around like chickens." High achievers organize their entire
life around their key outcomes. So should you.

4. Superb Execution. In the end, performance counts. In
the end, only action gets things done. Personal power is
about taking action, trying things, and (yes) making
mistakes. It's about learning from experts, copying
strategies that have worked for other people, and
IMPLEMENTING THEM. Sure, we all want to work less, but
first we may have to work more! Yes, we want to be
efficient, to enjoy our work, to have a sense of
"effortlessness" about life, but that is not the same as
failing to get up early, take action and get things done.
High achievers are hard workers.

4. Quotes of the Week

"We cannot discover new oceans until we have the courage to
lose sight of the shore."
                                                     -- Muriel Chen

"You will never stub your toe by standing still, but the
faster you go, the more chance you have of getting
                                                     -- Charles Kettering

"Saying yes and no clearly builds confidence and rids us of
the misconception that we are powerless."
                                                     -- Marsha Sinetar

"A musician must make music, an artist must paint, a poet
must write if he is ultimately to be at peace with himself.
What one can be, one must be."
                                                     -- Abraham Maslow

5. Strictly Business:   The Value of Technology

Over the past months, I've observed our local hospital go
through the trauma of adopting an entirely new level of
technology. They are becoming a paperless organization!

Every nurse and most other employees were given laptop
computers. All mass communications and memos are now done
via email. All patient records are computerized, all
doctor's orders are typed.

As you can imagine, there was tremendous resistance, and
the cost of equipment and training was enormous. And yet,
the cost of the investment has been re-captured almost

Productivity is up. There are new feelings of competence,
new avenues of communication and clarity. Errors and the
frustration of having to read someone's messy handwriting,
are way down.

My point? The "cost" of investing in new technology almost
always pays for itself in less than 30 days. As a rule,
expanded technology predictably creates vastly expanded
opportunities. New perspectives present themselves. New and
bigger markets open up. New communities are formed, and new
alliances, partnerships and joint-ventures materialize.

A couple of years ago, Ford Motor Co. gave all of their
employees home computers because they understood that the
investment would enhance worker productivity. Invest in
your technological savvy. It pays.

     Alive, Awake and Aware!
How Ordinary People Create Extraordinary Lives
My new Book and Audio Programs

"Leaders are readers." We've all heard this phrase, and we
know that highly successful people invest in their
education. They read for inspiration, for information, for
motivation and for examples. We also know that most people
read very little, and it shows in their lives.

One of the best things you can do is spend just 15 minutes
a day reading a positive, educational book to enrich your
life, and yet most people never do. I urge you to buy and
read this book! Think about your values, learn how other
people organize their time and create the life of their
dreams. There are no "secrets," just models and choices
that make all the difference.

You can get the book (I'll even pay the shipping) or the
audio programs, or both, whichever suits you best. But
invest in yourself. I hope you'll check it out and make the
small investment to create the extraordinary life you

     "Presentations Made Simple"
Organize, Prepare and Deliver GREAT Presentations
     Without Stress, Worry or Fear

Last week, over 100 subscribers signed up for Dawn's free
bonuses and that's a great start! Now, I want ALL the rest
of you to do this! We all have to make presentations from
time to time. Some of us do it professionally and we MUST
do a great job, every time. Other's speak or teach rarely,
and we need all the tools and confidence we can get because
even if you only speak at family reunions or to your club
or church group occasionally, you want to be calm, clear
and effective.

Get and read this wonderful collection of resources. As a
professional speaker, I learned (and was reminded of)
dozens of tips, large and small, to make my presentations
more powerful. For people who present only occasionally,
the ability to relax, know that you're organized and
"ready" is priceless. We know that many people fear public
speaking, and much of that fear comes from not feeling
confident. Do yourself a favor - get these tools and keep
them in your office. When your time comes, you'll be glad
to have them within reach!

     Got a Website?
     Earn Passive Income!

Over the years, I've paid lots of money for shopping carts,
autoresponders and systems that were supposed to help me
serve my subscribers and make money from my website. None
of them worked, or more accurately they worked, but they
were complex, confusing and didn't work very well. Then I
discovered Don Schnure and the amazing programs he's put
together. They work! They are powerful, EASY to use, and
they let me automate my newsletter, my affiliate programs
and my shopping cart, with no hassle! I love this! And, you
can use it for 30 days to check it out. Highly recommended!

7. Humor:    More Church Bulletin Humor

As a kid, one of my jobs was to help fold the bulletins
every Sunday, and later part of my work was to type them.
So, from that personal history, these may be (1) funnier or
(2) more painful, or (3) more familiar to me than to most
TIPS subscribers, but in any case, I hope they give you a
chuckle. And, I'm promised these really happened!

The Fasting & Prayer Conference includes meals.

The sermon this morning: "Jesus Walks on the Water." The
sermon tonight "Searching for Jesus."

Our youth basketball team is back in action Wednesday at 8
PM in the recreation hall. Come out and watch us kill
Christ the King.

Ladies, don't forget the rummage sale. It's a chance to
get rid of those things not worth keeping around the
house. Don't forget your husbands.

The peacemaking meeting scheduled for today has been
canceled due to a conflict.

Remember in prayer the many who are sick of our community.
Smile at someone who is hard to love. Say "Hell" to
someone who doesn't care much about you.

Don't let worry kill you off - let the Church help.

Miss Charlene Mason sang "I will not pass this way again,"
giving obvious pleasure to the congregation.

Next Thursday there will be tryouts for the choir. They
need all the help they can get.

Barbara remains in the hospital and needs blood donors for
more transfusions. She is also having trouble sleeping and
requests tapes of Pastor Jack's sermons.

The Rector will preach his farewell message after which the
choir will sing "Break Forth Into Joy."

Irving Benson and Jessie Carter were married on October 24
in the church. So ends a friendship that began in their
school days.

At the evening service tonight, the sermon topic will be
"What Is Hell?" Come early and listen to our choir

Eight new choir robes are currently needed due to the
addition of several new members and to the deterioration of
some older ones.

Scouts are saving aluminum cans, bottles and other items to
be recycled. Proceeds will be used to cripple children.

The church will host an evening of fine dining, super
entertainment and gracious hostility.

Ladies Bible Study will be held Thursday morning at 10 AM.
All ladies are invited to lunch in the Fellowship Hall
after the B.S. is done.

Be kind to yourself and to someone else, and have a
wonder-FULL week!
