2. Welcome Notes

As I write this (Wed afternoon) we have 24 people coming to
our World Class Life Conference in May! That's a new record
for registrations this early in the process and I'm very
excited! We have two people coming from England, along with
folks from all over the U.S. Most important, about a third
of our registrations are people who have attended
previously and are coming back! I've never seen (or heard
of) a conference so powerful and so rewarding that so many
people choose to come back, year after year!

Lots of conferences get nice compliments right after the
event when people are fired-up and excited. But how many
have you heard about that are so life-changing that a year,
or two years later, people take time to come back? That
says something important about the power of this event.

We've got lots of new material, new insights, and the same
wonderful setting. I hope you'll check it out and join us.
For now, I'm holding the line on costs and you can still
get 40% off, but please hurry. We've always sold out and
this year is no exception. Reserve your spot. Take action,
make your decision and register at:

Finally, two quick notes. First, spring is just around the
corner. We've had turkeys in our yard this week (driving
Cody nuts!) and there are even the first buds on our trees.
This is a good thing! And second, remember Valentines is
this Wednesday! Guys (especially) make a small investment
that can provide HUGE returns!

3:  Goals, Teamwork, and Getting Stuff Done

Last week, I wrote about the distinction between goals and
systems, with my argument that "systems beat goals, every
time." (You can read that at: )

This week, I want to look at the crucial distinction
between personal goals and team intentions. Most people get
these confused and end up frustrated and, too often,

In my work with coaching clients, I only use the term
"goals" for things they can personally control and achieve,
on their own. This is absolutely essential! Too often,
people set "goals" that are dependent on the performance or
cooperation of other people, then think they have "failed"
when those other people let them down. Don't do that to

My understanding is that goals should be specific,
measurable, time-limited and achievable, and most
importantly, you should have the resources to get them done
all by yourself.

Saving for retirement is a goal because you, and you alone,
decide how much of your income to set aside. If you (and
your family) spend all you make, you have decided not to
save, at least not for now. If you wish to save, design a
system and "get it done." Set up a payroll savings plan.
Create a special account at your bank or credit union. Make
the deposits. YOU control your investments and you control
the achievement of your goals.

Fitness, personal development, education, time management,
and developing personal qualities such as your attitude,
are examples of personal goals. You are in charge of these
things and you decide whether or not to get them done.

On the other hand, increasing your company's sales can
never be a goal because sales are dependent on the
decisions of other people. You can have the best intentions
and the best leader in the world. You can train and equip
your staff. You can improve your sales materials, but in
the end increasing sales is the result of separate
decisions by lots of people. Increasing sales may be your
intent, but it cannot be a goal.

Traditional goal-setting manuals often confuse these issues
and people end up setting goals that are unattainable. They
set "goals" for their kids to get better grades or they set
a goal for better morale in the office. These are wonderful
intentions, and your behavior, leadership, inspiration and
a host of other behaviors will absolutely influence the
people around you, but they are not goals!

By being absolutely clear about your goals (I will visit
Paris this year) and your intentions (I want my family to
have fun in Paris this year) you allow for a much higher
level of success. When you are clear about goals that you
WILL achieve, you are honest and accurate and motivated to
change your life.

You also get much clearer about the things you want other
people to do and the level of your influence (or lack of
influence) over their choices.

Where you have control, set a goal. Where you have
influence, set an intention. Where you have little or no
influence, you must have faith. Knowing and respecting
these distinctions leads to enormous power, freedom and

A World Class Life is truly "a life of one's own." It's a
life where your daily actions and daily experiences reflect
your values and highest aspirations. It's the life you
truly want, and it's entirely possible. We all deserve a
"World Class Life." To learn more, I hope you'll join us in
     Wisconsin this May.

4. Quotes of the Week

"What you get by achieving your goals is not as important
as what you become by achieving your goals."
                                        -- Zig Ziglar

"Dream as if you'll live forever. Live as if you'll die today."
                                        -- James Dean

"The people and circumstances around me do not MAKE me what
I am, they REVEAL who I am. "
                                        -- Dr. Laura Schlessinger

"I've found that luck is quite predictable. If you want more luck,
take more chances. Be more active. Show up more often."
                                         -- Unknown

5. Strictly Business:   Only Do What You Do Best

This week the old adage to focus on what you do best and
hire someone to do everything else came home loud and

I have a client who's business requires extensive
bookkeeping and accounting functions. He used to have a
full-time bookkeeper to support his real-estate and
investment interests, but last year, he decided he "could
do it myself". Well.

As you might guess, now it's tax season and his books are a
mess. The truth is that he's not a detail person. He does
not enjoy data entry on the computer, and he kept "putting
it off until later. I always thought I'd catch up on the
weekend, or next week."

Unfortunately, that never happened.

My client's passion, talents and interests are in the
creative, entrepreneurial side of his business. Ironically,
he is very good at reading financial statements to evaluate
a possible investment. But as a bookkeeper, he needs to
fire himself!

We all have our areas of expertise and passion. In our
areas of strength, we are "geniuses". Outside those areas,
however, we are doomed - doomed to frustration,
exasperation, and sometimes outright failure.

Do what you love. Do what you do best. Emphasize your
talents and give your customers the extras that only you
can give them. But for goodness sake, hire someone else to
do the things you can't do, won't do, or do badly. You
can't afford to spend your life being inefficient, wearing
yourself out, and being cranky.

Go with your strengths! You'll make more money, have more
fun, and be much more successful!

6. Resources and Tools for YOUR Success!

#1    The 12th Annual World Class Life(tm) Conference
        May 17-19th in Beautiful Wisconsin!
        If not now, when?
        If not you, who?

The most successful people in the world know who they are
and where they are going. Living well can be defined as
living "a life of one's own." Too many of us spend our
lives working hard, racing from here to there and chasing
other people's goals! Don't let that happen to you! You
DESERVE time to focus on yourself! You deserve time to
clarify your major purpose and highest aspirations in life!
You deserve practical, powerful strategies to make your
dreams come true!

Of course you do! And the winners in life TAKE the time.
They INVEST in themselves, their skills and their goals.
They network with the best people they can find. They
attend the seminars. They plot strategy and make sure they
are "on course" and focused on their most important priorities.

A great life does not happen by accident or by working
"harder" and hoping for the best. Success in life - total,
balanced, fulfilling success - is the logical result of
doing the right things, in the right order, at the right
time. The WCL has been THE turning point for many, many
people over the years. It gives you the tools and the time,
the space and permission to focus on what you truly want
for this one and only life. It gives you strategies that
work, and the inspiration to work them. This May, make the
commitment to create and live the life you truly want!

I hope you'll join us. Get all the info and register at:

#2   Think Right Now!
The Best Tools for CHANGE I've Found!

Many of you have purchased these audio programs to increase
sales, lose weight, set and achieve goals or improve diet,
health and fitness and you know how good they are! My
clients turned me on to these CD's several months ago and
I'm incredibly impressed. I strongly urge you to jump on
this! Top achievers in every field listen to audio
programs. They imagine themselves winning, getting new
records and living the life they truly WANT, and they do it
by visualizing their victories in advance with the help of
Mike's programs. These are fantastic, both for yourself and
as gifts. Grab these!

#3   Got a Website?
       Earn Passive Income!

Over the years, I've paid lots of money for shopping carts,
autoresponders and systems that were supposed to help me
serve my subscribers and make money from my website. None
of them worked, or more accurately they worked, but they
were complex, confusing and didn't work very well. Then I
discovered Don Schnure and the amazing programs he's put
together. They work! They are powerful, EASY to use, and
they let me automate my newsletter, my affiliate programs
and my shopping cart, with no hassle! I love this! And, you
can use it for 30 days to check it out. Highly recommended!

7. Humor:    Hope This Doesn't Happen To Us

My friend and long-time subscriber, Bob Armstrong, sent
these little stories and I loved them. Let's hope, we live
long enough to have these problems! Make it a fantastic

Three sisters ages 92, 94 and 96 live in a house together.
One night the 96 year old draws a bath. She puts her foot
in and pauses. She yells to the other sisters, "Was I
getting in or out of the bath?"

The 94 year old yells back, "I don't know. I'll come up and
see." She starts up the stairs and pauses. "Was I going up
the stairs or down?"

The 92 year old is sitting at the kitchen table listening
to her sisters. She shakes her head and says, "I sure hope
I never get that forgetful," as she knocked on her wooden
table for good measure. She then yells, "I'll come up and
help both of you as soon as I see who's at the door."

Three retirees, each with a hearing loss, were playing golf
one fine March day. One remarked to the other, "Windy,
isn't it?" "No," the second man replied, "It's Thursday."
And the third man chimed in, "So am I. Let's have a beer."

A little old lady was running up and down the halls in a
nursing home. As she walked, she would flip up the hem of
her nightgown and say, "Supersex."

She walked up to an elderly man in a wheelchair. Flipping
her gown at him, she said, "Supersex." He sat silently for
a moment or two and finally answered, "I'll take the

Two elderly ladies had been friends for many decades. Over
the years, they had shared all kinds of activities and
adventures. Lately, their activities had been limited
playing cards a few times each week. One day, they were
playing cards when one looked at the other and said, "Now
don't get mad at me. I know we've been friends for a long
time, but I just can't think of your name! I've thought and
thought, but I can't remember it. Please tell me what your
name is." Her friend glared at her. For at least three
minutes she just stared and glared at her. Finally she
said, "How soon do you need to know?"

As a senior citizen was driving down the freeway, his car
phone rang. Answering, he heard his wife's voice urgently
warning him, "Herman, I just heard on the news that there's
a car going the wrong way on Interstate 77. Please be

"What!!!!!!!!" exclaimed Herman, "It's not just one car.
It's hundreds of them!"

Be kind to yourself and to someone else, and have a
wonder-FULL week!
