1. The One-Minute TIP

There really is a science--a proven set of principles and
reliable steps--to keep yourself motivated and achieve your
dreams! To achieve your most important goals, hard work and
even self-discipline are not enough! Master the tools that
let some people achieve one goal after another for a lifetime
of success, while others work just as hard but get minimal
results. Get the info and join us at:

2. Welcome Notes

October means Halloween is less than a month away! And
Halloween--along with April Fool's--are two of my favorite
days of the year! Costumes! Candy! Fun and silliness and
total escape from the ordinary! What could be better? Every
year I celebrate Halloween and I typically receive a few
emails from people who object for religious reasons, and I
respect that. I appreciate people who speak up and let others
know where they stand. Good for you! But for myself and my
family it's great fun ad we look forward to it. I hope you
do, too!

But October also means something far more serious. It means
the year is three-quarters over! Are you 75% of the way to
your goals for the year? Have you made the sales, completed
the projects, and achieved the results you promised yourself?
And, have you kept track?! Last Thursday was the last day of
the quarter, which means you had all day Friday to do the
books, check the numbers, and plot your progress. I hope
you're on-track and on-budget!

Perhaps the most powerful goal-achieving tool I know is a
simple wall chart to measure your progress. I hope you are
on-track to finish strong this year, and that you have a big
chart of your progress hanging above your desk to prove it.
(What a nice way to show-off and tell the world how great you

And if there's any question about that, let me extend a final
invitation to join our Science of Success program! We began
last week, but it's not too late to jump on-board! We've got
all the bonuses (including an extra one I added this week),
the recordings and the support. All we're missing for a

success, please join us. But do it today! Sign up at:

3: How to Stay Motivated, All the Time!

The most common problem people talk about when they request
coaching is staying motivated. Sometimes they talk about
losing focus, being discouraged, having too much to do, or
procrastination, but what it boils down to is that they
arenít achieving as much as they would like.

We all have things that are important to us. We have goals, a
dream, or maybe some obligations we are duty-bound to
complete, but we arenít making the progress we would like.
Some people work hard for a while, then slack off. Others
procrastinate and never get to it. Some donít know how to get
started or are too tired.

The central issue is motivation.

The fact is that we do the things we are motivated to do. Ask
any teenager how hard theyíll work to make the team or get
their driverís license. Ask yourself how many all-nighters
you put in to complete an important paper in college. Ask
yourself about the times youíve worked hard to achieve
something that simply, absolutely had to get done!

Thereís a wonderful story about a young man who travelled the
world to meet a wise and famous teacher. When they met, the
young man pleaded, "Will you teach me how to find wisdom?"
Without a word, the guru led the young man to a nearby lake
and suddenly pushed his head under water. At first the young
man thought it was a joke, but after a few seconds, he began
thrashing and fighting desperately for a breath of air.
Finally, the guru let him up and calmly said, "When you
desire wisdom as badly as you wanted that next breath of air,
you will find it."

When we are motivated, nothing can stand in our way!

So, how do we stay motivated? Here are a few keys:

1. Be clear! You can hit almost any target if you define it
precisely enough. Itís hard to stay motivated for a vague or
distant goal. Be specific. Be precise and concrete. You will
be far more motivated to increase sales by 6% than by "trying
to sell more."

2. Have an action plan. If you have a map and know the next
step, you are much more motivated to do it. "Baby-steps" are
easier and safer than "giant leaps." Itís relatively hard to
stay motivated through the years to put a million dollars in
the bank, but itís easy to start by saving $300 this month.
Have a clear, do-able and action-able plan. Then, take steps
one after another.

3. Surround yourself with positives. Zig Ziglar made a
wonderful observation that "people complain motivation
doesnít last. Well, neither does a shower. Thatís why I
recommend both every day." Read and listen to audio programs,
talk with exciting people and surround yourself with things
that energize you! We live in a bad-news world. It wears
everyone down! To counter this, surround yourself (every
day!) with things that energize, challenge and excite you.
(One more reason I recommend participating in trainings and
coaching groups!)

4. The "Breakfast of Champions." With apologies to
Wheatiesô, I encourage you to re-read and re-commit to your
most important priorities, goals and plans every single day.
Personally, I begin every morning by focusing on my major
projects and goals for about 20 minutes. If I donít, the day
gets away from me. In the rush of the day, minor distractions
will beat strategic action every time. Start every day by
reviewing and re-affirming your most important objectives.

5. Have plenty of cheerleaders! I think this may be the most
important, easiest, and most-often over-looked. Recruit
friends and family to hold you accountable. Teach them how to
support and encourage you. Pick their brains for good ideas,
and report back to them regularly. Form and use a MasterMind
team! With a good team of cheerleaders, you can accomplish

"In any moment of decision, the best thing you can do is the
right thing. The worst thing you can do is nothing."
-- Theodore Roosevelt

-- Dr. Joyce Brothers

5. Strictly Business: Networking for Fun and Profit

There's an saying that "it's who you know that counts," and
for better or worse, it's often true.

Yes, there is a cynical aspect to the phrase, referring to
favoritism that is unfortunate. More often, however, people
get the referral or the promotion precisely because (in a
positive sense) of "who they know." Knowing and liking
someone does make a difference.

When it comes to networking, however, I've noticed two
unfortunate patterns that are generally NOT helpful:

First is the person (to be honest, it's usually a male) who
views networking as some strange contest to see who can trade
the most business cards in the shortest period of time.
There's a frantic energy that is a huge turn-off. Their quick
handshake, exaggerated smile and exchange of business cards
is usually a waste of time.

The second is the person who attends networking functions but
fails to connect in a meaningful way. Often they spend the
time chatting with a friend, and leave without meeting anyone
new, or making any lasting impressions.

Effective networking means connecting with a few people in an
honest, sincere way that says you would like to help them if
you can, and would appreciate the other person's support in

Get to know people. Call them up, go to lunch, and if
appropriate, certainly exchange business cards! But what
you're looking for is a relationship. Get to know a few
people well, rather than collecting dozens of cards from
strangers. Follow-up with a phone call. And if you can, be
sure to send some business to the other person. Nothing will
grow your business like the gratitude of people who have
benefited from your genuine support.

#3 Make Your Website Work BETTER!
Earn Passive Income!

Over the years, I've paid lots of money for shopping carts,
autoresponders and systems that were supposed to help me
serve my subscribers and make money from my website. They all
worked (sort of), but they were complex, confusing and didn't
work very well. Then I discovered Don Schnure and the amazing
programs he's put together. They work! They are powerful,
EASY to use, and they let me automate my newsletter, my
affiliate programs and my shopping cart, with no hassle! I
love this! And, you can use it for 30 days to check it out.
Highly recommended! (Full disclosure -- I earn a commission
if you sign up for 1Automation, but I've used it for years
and recommend it because it's worked really, really well for

7. Humor: Wedding Bell Wisdom

Collections of kidsí wisdom about love and marriage have been
around for a long time and when my friend and colleague, Paul
Simpson sent me these, I thought they were too cute to pass
up. I share these in the hope youíll get a nice chuckle from

You got to find somebody who likes the same stuff. Like, if
you like sports, she should like it that you like sports, and
she should keep the chips and dip coming.
-- Alan, age 10

No person really decides before they grow up who they're
going to marry. God decides it all way before, and you find
out later who you're stuck with.
-- Kristen, age 10

Twenty-three is the best age because you know the person
FOREVER by then.
-- Camille, age 10

You might have to guess, based on whether they seem to be
yelling at the same kids.
-- Derrick, age 8

Both don't want any more kids.
-- Lori, age 8

Dates are for having fun, and people should use them to get
to know each other. Even boys have something to say if you
listen long enough.
-- Lynnette, age 8 (isn't she a treasure)

On the first date, they just tell each other lies and that
usually gets them interested enough to go for a second date.
-- Martin, age 10

When they're rich.
-- Pam, age 7

The law says you have to be eighteen, so I wouldn't want to
mess with that.
-- Curt, age 7

The rule goes like this: If you kiss someone, then you should
marry them and have kids with them. It's the right thing to do.
-- Howard, age 8

I don't know which is better, but I'll tell you one thing.
I'm never going to have sex with my wife. I don't want to be
all grossed out.
-- Theodore, age 8

It's better for girls to be single but not for boys. Boys
need someone to clean up after them.
-- Anita, age 9 (bless you child)

And the #1 Favorite is........

Tell your wife that she looks pretty, even if she looks like
a truck.
-- Ricky, age 10

Be kind to yourself and to someone else, and have a
wonder-FULL week!
